You may have seen the billboard, heard the jingle or watched the ad; whichever it is, you definitely know something big is coming. The Calabar Entertainment Conference, organized by Hit 95.9 FM, is the biggest round table discussion in the South-South area of Nigeria aimed at discovering, rebranding and redefining the entertainment industry in the region and country at large.
Inspired by the need to boost the entertainment sector within which it operates, the masterminds behind Hit 95.9 FM decided to augment the regular government entertainment events in the state with something just as productive for the entertainment industry to thrive in the region. Hence, the birth of the Calabar Entertainment Conference, CEC.
Over the last four years, CEC has been a captivating platform for both learning and networking for entertainment lovers; bringing together the big shots in the industry and the consumers of what they offer to one platform to discuss how the sector can grow and also provide a sustainable and viable environment for practitioners all over the country. This year’s edition would mark the fifth anniversary of CEC.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic undoubtedly crippled many sectors globally, however the entertainment industry was arguably the worst hit. CEC could therefore not have come at a better time. The Conference brings together people from all facets of the media and entertainment industry; Social Media, Brand Strategists, Music, Radio, Television and Comedy- all to a round table discussion.
Flying on the successful premise of the last four editions, this fifth year’s conference promises to be even bigger and better with personalities drawn from both the national and international entertainment scene such as music sensation Kaptain, Veteran Media Personality Olisa Adibua, Edi Lawani, Joey Akan, Ryan Verneile from the USA, Loraine Lionheart from Botswana and DJ Lisa Li from France. Also, Popular Social Media Influencer Stephanie Isuma (Calabar Chic), Brand Strategist Dr. Tochukwu Macfroy, Boomplay’s General Manager Dele Kadiri and others, would be in attendance.
With the main aim of CEC to discover, define and rebrand, 2 sessions would hold to discuss two important topics; the first being The Impact of Covid -19 on the Entertainment Industry and secondly, How Collaborations and Partnerships have changed the dimension of things in the Entertainment Industry as well as fostering perfect ones.
In addition to this, CEC also celebrates legends who have left indelible marks in the industry by conferring post-humous awards and Icon awards to such. This year, the Legendary Fuji & Highlife Musician Etubom Rex Williams and BLO Guitarist BB Wright, would be awarded for their contributions to the entertainment industry.
This year’s conference would take place on Friday, 15th October, 2021 at the Cultural Centre, Calabar by 10 am. Registration is completely free but necessary and can be done on the official website, www.hit959.com and is open to every entertainment lover.
