Say hello to Lytebwoy—real name Eti Israel Evogor—a talented Nigerian singer and songwriter from Igbo Imabana, Abi L.G.A, Cross River State. Born on May 6, 2002, Lytebwoy is carving out a unique space for himself in the vibrant world of Afrobeats, blending passion, melody, and raw storytelling.

We had the chance to catch up with him as he opened up about his journey, creative influences, and the making of his debut EP, “Shine.”

Early Days & Musical Awakening

Lytebwoy’s road to music wasn’t always smooth. “At first, my parents didn’t support my music journey,” he recalls. “But the fire in me wouldn’t let me give up.” Despite facing discipline and pushback, he stayed persistent.

Eventually, things changed when people frequently visited their home for music lessons. Witnessing the impact of music in their community, his parents began to recognize his passion and accepted his dream.

“My love for music grew stronger when I started playing instruments in church and local bands,” he says. Influenced by icons like Burna Boy and Wizkid, his sound and ambition began to take form.

The Turning Point

Every artist has that one defining moment—and for Lytebwoy, it was a spontaneous freestyle among friends.

“They were blown away by my delivery,” he says. “They kept telling me, ‘You’ve got something special—you need to take this seriously.’” That moment lit the spark that would set his musical journey in motion.

Stepping Into the Spotlight

By early 2024, Lytebwoy took his first official steps into the studio. His debut single, “Annabel My Lover,” became a milestone in his career and is now one of the standout tracks on his EP, “Shine”—a project that captures his essence as an artist.

His music is a fusion of Afrobeats, Afropop, and Dancehall, all wrapped in heartfelt lyrics and irresistible rhythms. “Burna Boy and Wizkid have shaped my sound—I’ve listened to them so much that their influence naturally flows into my music,” he explains.

Crafting the Shine EP

The creative process behind Shine was deeply intentional. “Whenever I play my guitar, melodies just flow. That’s when the magic happens, and I write it all down,” Lytebwoy shares.

Still, the journey came with its own hurdles. “Promoting myself and getting my music on digital platforms was a struggle at first,” he admits. But with support from PR strategist Joe Octave—whom he connected with through mutual friends Taurus and Jaywheez—he found the direction he needed.

Octave encouraged him to package his recordings into a cohesive body of work instead of releasing singles randomly—leading to the birth of “Shine”.

“This EP is my official introduction to the world,” he says. “It’s my time, and I want people to hear my sound and feel my story.”

“The entire recording experience was incredible. Being surrounded by talented creatives really brought the vision to life,” he says.

Growing Recognition & Industry Buzz

Though still rising, Lytebwoy’s sound is already catching attention. His cover performances have earned reposts and recognition from established names like Iyanya, Khaid, and Wizboy—a testament to his growing influence.

Looking Ahead: The Future Is Bright

Lytebwoy has his sights set high. “I want to be one of the most listened-to and respected artists—someone whose music connects with people across the world.”

Currently, he’s working on an exciting collaboration with Killerbwoy Jaywheez, which he promises will be “absolutely jaw-dropping.”

“In five years, I see myself as a globally recognized artist—making timeless music, touring internationally, and leaving a legacy.”
